    Teaming Up for Urban Playgrounds In March, the Trust for Public Land (TPL) received a $600,000 grant from MetLife Foundation, which will support the creation of six new parks and playgrounds across the country. The grant expands the MetLife Foundation Parks & Playgrounds Fund to $2.6 million.

    Texas adopts ASTM standards, eliminates CPSC  In an effort to make playgrounds safer for children, Deborah Muse, founder of a former local Landscape Structures playground consultant in Texas teamed up with a local competitor, Ken Hurst, to help Texas become the first state in the U.S. to adopt ASTM standards as the sole playground standard. Beginning Sept. 1, 2009, playground equipment purchased with public funds must comply with the provisions of ASTM standard F1487-07ael.
